In this article we will be comparing the Invicta Pro Diver vs the Rolex submariner. Both of these are dive watches. Both of these have a similar style. The difference is that one watch costs thousands of dollars, while the other one…….doesn’t.
The reason we are comparing these two watches is because the Invicta Pro Diver is so similar in appearance to the Rolex submariner, that it could serve as a dirt cheap alternative to the Submariner!
Now we did previously do a quick review on the Invicta Pro Diver, but in this article, we will be focused more on making comparisons between the Pro Diver and the Submariner rather than a full review of either.
The Rolex Submariner is an iconic luxury watch. Everyone knows the Rolex brand. It is held high as the pinnacle of luxury and style when it comes to watches. Invicta, on the other hand is known as an “affordable luxury watch company”.
Even though Invicta is not technically a luxury watch company, this Swiss watchmaker does go out of its way in an attempt to create well-crafted timepieces at budget prices. So now we will take a look at how their Pro Diver stacks up against the Rolex Submariner!
Invicta Pro Diver Vs Rolex Submariner: Design
We will start by looking at the design because there are some obvious striking similarities between the two watches.
So immediately right off the bat we can see here that both of these watches are silver with a black dial and bezel. They both have a date window. Even the watch hands are pretty close to identical. Each of them also possesses a chain link style band.
The main difference between them here is the logo. You can tell the Rolex by its signature logo, and vice versa for the Invicta. Unique to the Invicta, however, is it’s exhibition style case back, which is only visible on the underside of the watch.
As we can clearly see, the watch designs are virtually identical. Invicta clearly intended for the Pro Diver to be a budget substitute for the Rolex Submariner. From a distance, you probably wouldn’t know which one you were looking at! It would only be upon closer inspection that you would see the differences here.
Invicta Pro Diver Vs Rolex Submariner: Materials
Well we know that the watches both look the same, but what about the materials used in the watches? Perhaps it is here, that we will begin to see what separates the luxury watch from the budget watch!
The Invicta Pro Diver has both a case and band made from stainless steel. It’s dial window is made from mineral crystal. The Rolex Submariner, on the other hand, has a case made of 904L stainless steel, while the dial window is made from sapphire crystal.
Now we start seeing some major differences when it comes to the actual materials used in the two watches. Next, we’ll take a look at how these two watches actually function.
Invicta Pro Diver Vs Rolex Submariner: Movement
The Invicta Pro diver uses a movement known as the NH35. This is an automatic movement that is the equivalent of Seiko’s Caliber 4R35, only with slightly more accuracy. The NH35 movement is very reliable, and as such is used in many mechanical watches.
The Rolex Submariner 116610 uses Rolex’s in house Caliber 3135 movement. This movement is considered to be a base movement in Rolex watches because it is used in so many of them. This movement is a 31 jewels, automatic movement. It is powered by a bidirectional motor.
Over the years Rolex has modified and improved this movement, At this point, many experts in the field consider the Caliber 3135 to be one of the most accurate automatic movements of all time.
So when it comes to movement, the Rolex Submariner really stands out for having a movement renown for its reliability and accuracy. Next, we will look at the features of each watch to see what they have to offer.
Invicta Pro Diver Vs Rolex Submariner: Features
Both the Pro Diver and Submariner are mechanical watches, so do not expect to see any advanced features like you would find in digital or smartwatches.
Starting with the Invica Pro Diver, it is luminous, so the hands and markers will glow in the dark, provided they have had time to absorb light prior to that. This will give you some visibility in the dark, which is always going to be a helpful feature.
It is water resistant up to a depth of 200 meters. It also features a unidirectional rotating bezel, which is an excellent way to keep up with your dive times.
Next up, is the Rolex Submariner. The submariner also has luminous hands and markers. Although the extent of that luminosity would depend upon the age of the watch.
The Submariner is also water resistant up to a depth of 300 meters, which is significantly more than the Invicta Pro Diver. It also, of course, features a unidirectional rotating bezel.
It looks like both of these watches share similar features. These are the types of features that you would expect from diving watches. The Submariner outperforms the Pro Diver in the water resistance category. You will be able to dive much deeper with the Rolex Submariner Vs the Invicta Pro Diver.
