Pagani Design Daytona Review: An Elegant Homage?

In today’s article we will be doing a review of the Pagani Design Daytona. Pagani Design, or sometimes PD for short, is a Chinese watch manufacturer. They create a variety of watches that resemble luxury watches, but can be purchased for a fraction of a fraction of the price of a true luxury watch!

We all know how popular and revered Rolex brand watches are. And subsequently, we all know how expensive they can be! Not everyone can afford an authentic Rolex. So for the rest of us, we will have to settle for much cheaper watches that mimic the style and look of a Rolex. In the case of the Rolex Daytona, this is where the Pagani Design Daytona comes in!

Now, when speaking of Chinese imports, or Chinese made watches, many people question the quality of the watches. Oftentimes there is a stigma that a Chinese made watch will have quality control issues. Well this can be the case sometimes, but other times, not so much. Some Chinese luxury watches are actually quality watches!

However, today we are not looking at an actual luxury watch, but rather an inexpensive alternative that can fit more realistically into the average budget. So anyway, let’s get right this review!

Pagani Design Daytona Review

We’ll start by looking at the specs, then from there we’ll move onto the actual build quality of the watch itself.

Specs

  • This is an analog chronograph watch.
  • It uses Japanese quartz movements.
  • The case measures 40 millimeters wide, and 12 millimeters thick.
  • The band measures 20 millimeters in width and 220 millimeters in length.

Build Quality

The first thing we’ll be looking at on the Pagani Design Daytona, is the build quality. Despite its resemblance its Rolex counterpart, this is not a true luxury watch. But as you will see, it is still a well built watch.

Both the case and band are made of stainless steel. The dial window, surprisingly enough, is made of synthetic sapphire. You don’t often see that material being used in inexpensive watches. Usually you would have a mineral crystal window. As for the bezel, it is ceramic, which is another nice choice for this watch.

The Pagani Design Daytona is water resistant to a depth of 100 meters. This makes it suitable for most light water sports, but maybe not so much for diving. It should hold up just fine in the rain, the shower, while swimming, snorkeling, boating, etc.

When looking at the build and materials used, this watch should be pretty resilient to minor impacts, bumps and scrapes. The sapphire dial window will not be easily scratched. So there is a good degree of quality to this watch despite it being a “cheap imitation”, of the Rolex Daytona.

Design

Now onto the main purpose of this watch. Its design. Upon first glace, you will see that to the naked eye, it is a pretty faithful homage to the Rolex Daytona. From a distance, there’s no shame in believing it to be an actual Rolex Daytona!

However, upon closer inspection, the differences become more apparent. For starters, there’s the obvious logo difference. At the top of the dial, just under the 12 o’clock position, you will see the “Pagani Design” logo and text.

Like the actual Rolex Daytona, it has the tachymeter bezel. Then on the dial, it shares the same hour and minute markings, as well as sub dials as the Rolex Daytona. There is also a date window.

This is another area where the Pagani Design Daytona differs from the Rolex Daytona. The actual Rolex Daytona does not feature a date window, while the Pagani Design Daytona does.

Features

The first, and most basic feature of the watch is its luminosity. The hands and markers will emit a slight glow in dark conditions. It’s not as bright as the luminosity found in some other watches, but it gets the job done.

Second, is the date window, which was mentioned before. That window displays the numbered day of the month. You can easily adjust it by pulling the middle crown once, then selecting the desired date.

Lastly, this is a chronograph, so it features the 3 sub dials. The one at the 6 o’clock position is the seconds dial. The one at the 3 o’clock position, is the 24 hour dial. Finally, the one at the 9 o’clock position is the hour dial.

You can activate the chrono hand by pressing down the button above the crown once. Pressing the button down again, stops the chrono hand. Then you can reset it with flyback by pressing the button underneath the crown.

Price

The price of the Pagani Design Daytona fits in the median range for these types of watches. Typically, especially for Rolex homages, you will find prices that range from cheap to slightly expensive, but never overwhelming to any budget.

The Pegani Design Daytona is not a dirt cheap homage, nor is it very expensive. Depending on where you get it from, and the time of year, you can usually find one for a pretty affordable price.

Final Thoughts

Overall, I think that the Pagani Design Daytona is a good deal for the price. It has the design of the Rolex Daytona, costs a fraction of the price, and even has a degree of quality to its build. Overall this is a good watch.

There are a lot of luxury alternatives and homages out there, with varying prices and degrees of quality. Some are poorly made, and not worth their price. Others, are surprisingly well built. Know that if you get this one, you are getting a great watch at a great price! There is a reason why it gets consistently favorable reviews!

And that concludes our Pagani Design Daytona review! I hope you enjoyed this article and got a lot of useful information out of it. You can check out even more examples if luxury alternatives here
