Just at the surface level, Armitron would have to be a pretty decent company as it was ranked as one of the top 10 fashion brands in the United States. It is a direct competitor to brands such as Fossil, Bulova, Guess, Pulsar, Movado, Citizen, Timex, Seiko, and Casio.
Armitron was originally formed in 1956. At that time their watches were manufactured under the E. Gluck Corporation. The E. Gluck corporation was a subsidiary of an electronics company known as the Armin corporation. By the end of the 1970’s however, the E. Gluck Corporation severed its ties with Armin to become its own privately held company.
Armitron’s watches used to be manufactured using LED displays. However, they later switched the display type to lCD, as over time LEDs were no longer practical to use.
Originally, Armitron watches were made with the “5 function” features. That is to say that they display hours, minutes, seconds, days, and dates.
Armitron continues to be a major force in the watch industry. They are even endorsed by big name sports players, such as former pro football player Jerry Rice, and former pro baseball player Larry Bird. In fact, at the time of writing this article, Armitron currently stands as the official timekeeper of the New York Yankees baseball team.
After looking at these facts, there is no doubt that the Armitron company name is held in a positive light. Next, we will look at the actual quality of the watches themselves.
Are Armitron Watches Good Quality?
Armitron manufactures all kinds of different watches. Their watches are manufactured in China. They have analog, quartz, digital, and even some mechanical watches. Their library includes luxury styled watches, sport, retro styles, and casual.
All in all, Armitron has a very wide array of options to choose from. There are so many types of Armitron watches that the build quality will vary based on the model and style.
Casual And Dress Watches

Armitron’s sport watches are built differently from the rest. These watches are made to be worn in all kinds of environments and feature a more robust construction. Armitron’s sport watches often draw comparisons to Casio’s G-Shock line of watches, as both feature a similar look, and both are built for more rigorous activities.
Their sport watches have either digital, or ana-digi displays. They have resin cases paired with acrylic dial windows. The bands are usually going to be either nylon or plastic. Lastly, Armitron’s sport watches feature water resistance up to a depth of 330 feet.
Verdict On Armitron Build Quality
Basically, what it ultimately comes down to is that the quality of an Armitron watch is going to depend on what type of Armitron watch you get. You can’t really go wrong with their sports models, however, as they are built to handle all kinds of harsher environments.
While it’s hard to say exactly how long any particular watch will last, it wouldn’t be unreasonable to expect the average Armitron watch to last up to 5 years or more.
Design & Style
The designs and styles of Armitron watches are about as broad as the types of watches they produce. While you won’t find anything too groundbreaking here in terms of style, the sheer variety of options to choose from means that you will most likely find something you like if you browse through their selections.
Whether you are looking for something to wear to work, a party, or wedding, Armitron has you covered! With this many watch types, comes just as many options. It is basically a matter of finding which Armitron watch best suits the occasion.

Pricing
This has already been alluded to earlier in this article, but these watches are extremely affordable. Armitron watches’ prices sit on the lowest tier of the pricing spectrum. Some of their watches are so cheap, that they even hit bargain bin status!
And this is one of the really obvious plus sides to Armitron watches. They are so affordable on average, that there is not too much risk involved in trying one out.

After looking at all of these factors, I can honestly say that Armitron is a reliable brand that produces quality watches well worth their price. Once again, the quality will vary by the watch model and style, but overall Armitron is a good choice in a watch brand.

Good article. And I bought 4 of them for Christmas this year. Everyone loved them and my one son put his on a shelf because he thought it was too good to wear except for special occasions!
Ran across this when I was trying to do some research on watches I own…I’ll say right off the bat, I have an Armitron made in 1998, and it’s now 2022, that’s 24 years of service! Never had it cleaned, just battery replacement anywhere between 9 months to 14 months. Cost at the time was $35.00. I will also say, that this watch is a Japanese Quartz movement, and my watch guy tells me they can last for a long, long time. If this article is correct, and they are using Chinese movements now, I would expect the longevity to be far, far less, than than the Japanese movement. Just beware.
just because the manufacturing process is in China, doesn’t mean the movements are Chinese. They are still Japanese quartz, it is just that the manufacturing process is outsourced to China. As in, they are put together in China.
